We met Fender several years ago through a friend who was doing mission work in Haiti. He works with children teaching them the Bible. He is 26 years old and is still single. We have helped him for about 3 years with several things but mostly food. I believe if he could go to another country that he would be successful. We were able to get him some computer training and he speaks English. Fender is looking for a country where he will be safer, more secure, and have a hopeful future. He wrote me the following letter:
“Life in Haiti has become increasingly challenging due to the combination of violence, insecurity, and poverty that seem to engulf our daily lives. The pervasive violence and insecurity in our communities have cast a shadow of fear that we can't escape. Every day feels like a battle just to ensure our own safety and the well-being of our loved ones. The lack of opportunities to escape poverty only adds to the weight we carry. In light of these circumstances, I am considering the difficult decision to leave my homeland in search of a brighter future. I yearn for a place where I can live without the constant fear of violence, where I can work towards a better life for myself and my family, and where l can find the stability that seems so elusive here. I understand that this is a significant step, and I am not asking for this support lightly. It is a plea born out of necessity and the desire to break free from circumstances that have hindered our growth and potential. Your support would mean the world to me and would bring me closer to realizing the dreams I hold dear. Your kindness and support will not be forgotten. I am committed to working hard, contributing positively to society, and eventually giving back to my community and my country once the circumstances allow. Thank you for taking the time to read my heartfelt plea. Your consideration means a lot to me, and I am hopeful that with your support, I can take steps towards creating a more promising future for myself and those I care about.”
We need to raise $2,000 to get Fender out of Haiti to escape the fear and violence that surrounds him daily and into another country where there are opportunities for him to work his way out of poverty.
